One Hit and Quit- The Blueberry Strain

blueberry marijuana strain

As the name implies, the blueberry marijuana strain tastes simply like blueberry, ripe, and sweet blueberries to be exact. This Indica hybrid strain has been in circulation for many years now. The blueberry marijuana strain, developed by DJ Short in the ’70s is known for its relaxing, soothing high and is usually used to relieve pain and anxiety. This strain paved the way by laying the groundwork for a positive acceptance of marijuana not only in the U.S. but internationally as well.

This was created by crossing an Indica Afghani and a Sativa Thai and Thai purple varieties. Its popularity peaked when it won “Best Indica strain” and “Best Overall strain” in the 2000 High Times Cup. Its THC content is approximately 15% to 24%. The popularity of this strain has led other growers to create equally great strains such as Blueberry kush and Blue Dream.

This strain is not an easy plant to grow. It requires a sunny environment and medium humidity to thrive. Its growth pattern is horizontal, thus the need for a wide area in growing this plant. Soil composition is also an important factor in maximizing the potential growth of the Blueberry strain. A well-aerated soil is needed to promote root growth. This plus a rich highly organic soil, such as bat guano or vermicompost is needed to increase the size of the plant, speeding up its maturity process which in turn develops into small, densely packed buds. Its leaf to bud ratio is considered favorable thus there is no need for much trimming for this short and bushy plant. Lastly, they require a stable temperature of 72 to 80 degrees F in the daytime. These plant requirements make this a strain for startup growers.

The Blueberry marijuana strain could also be grown indoors as long as the room or tent they are housed in, meets the certain requirements mentioned above. Humidifiers and grow lights could mimic the natural environment these plants seek. When grown indoors, these plants usually flower within 8 to 10 weeks, giving some 18 ounces per square meter. Outdoor yield is higher at 25 ounces per square meter.

Known for its immediate hits, this heavy-hitting strain makes you want to sit down and chill. Even experienced cannabis connoisseurs can attest to the potency of this strain. Since it is known for its soothing and calming properties, the Blueberry marijuana strain is a very effective stress reliever. The solid high it gives you instantly uplifts your emotions making it a great end of the day smoke. l It is not the type of strain that will stir up your creative juices, is in fact, a strain that makes its users feel heavy and feel the need for a couchlock. This euphoric state it brings makes your mind wander away and restore all those spent energies at the day’s end.

In this day and age, not all cannabis users are not only seeking that potent high our grandparents used to look for, but there are cannabis users now seeking treatment for their prevailing ailments.

Like many hard-hitting Indica strains, the Blueberry marijuana strain is used as a treatment for stress, depression, anxiety, and pain. It touches more on the mental aspect of relief by giving you that euphoric high which makes you temporarily forget the stress of day to day problems shifting your mood to a calmed, content state. Stress often prevents people from relaxing and falling asleep but the release of those negative thoughts once consumed often brings positivity to its users.

Another possible treatment for this strain is neuropathic pain. The patient usually feels a general discomfort to their body like sudden tingling and numbing. This was simply explained as the nerve cells send signals to one’s brain that they are in pain, without any known cause for that pain.
